科幻漫画家星野之宣的代表作之一《2001 夜物语》二度改编成动画版，而且这次确定由《苹果核战记》、《2077 日本锁国》的曾利文彦导演执导3DCG剧场版，剧场版名称定为《TO》(トゥー)。官方网站在7月21日大举更新内容架构，剧场版《TO》的内容将结合原作漫画中的第13夜《共生行星》、第15夜《椭圆轨道》为蓝本。只不过和原作相反的是，剧场版的故事发展将可能是从《椭圆轨道》发展到《共生行星》这样的顺序。核心制作群以及主角声优阵容同时揭晓如下。
除此之外，长达1分30秒的第一支官方预告片也在网站的首页上隆重播出，让各位可以先睹为快。预告片中浩瀚的银河景象、配合庞大的星际战舰令人甚为震撼，结合颇具科幻风情的官网主页设计，更是让人期待满分。另外，《椭圆轨道》与《共生行星》这两段故事将会在10月2日抢先提供DVD出租服务。这样一来，《TO》究竟算是剧场版或是OVA就颇令人好奇了。

2.音轨上日配和英配采用美版的20bit 5.1音轨，日版BD的16bit 2.0音轨和港版BD的16bit 5.1粤配组成。
3.字幕包括了港版BD的中字和美版BD的英字。
4.SP部分采用日版BD压制，因为美版BD的英字SP部分是SD的分辨率，故采用港版BD的1080P分辨率的中英字幕（全部CM和SP需要字幕的都有）。日版没有menu视频。
